Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner Has Cast Son in Horizon: An American Saga

Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner Hires His Son to Saddle Up in a New Role

In Hollywood, it’s all in who ya know, and probably few and far between are aspiring actors who are better acquainted with Yellowstone star Kevin Costner than his son, Hayes. The 15-year-old makes his big-screen debut in Dad’s two-part Western, Horizon: An American Saga, the first half of which is set to hit theaters on June 28.

Though some might balk at Costner’s casting of his own kid — the next to youngest of his seven offspring — the Oscar winner defended the move via Instagram: “When it’s your movie, you get to pick who you hang out with.”

Costner had no regrets, either; the youngster apparently rose to the task. “Really proud of Hayes for making his acting debut in Horizon: An American Saga.” (See him in action below.)

The back half of Yellowstone’s fifth and final season is expected to premiere on Paramount Network in November. Talks are already reportedly underway with some cast members about reprising their roles in an in-the-works continuation of the Dutton family’s story.

In addition to the father/son duo, the Civil War-era film also stars Yellowstone vets Danny Huston (who played ill-fated developer Dan Jenkins) and Will Patton (who was Jamie Dutton’s no-good biodad, Garrett Randall), and Stranger Things‘ Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower.

Since the trailer dropped, Costner has been delighted with the response. “Thanks to all of you for the love you’ve shown our trailer this week,” he said. “I couldn’t be more excited to share this with you.” (Take a peek below.)
