Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is set to adapt S.C. Gwynne’s book Empire of the Summer Moon as his next project. The book, which was published in 2010, tells the story of the four-decade struggle between the Comanche tribe and white settlers in the American West. It focuses on Quanah Parker, the tribe’s greatest chief. Gwynne spoke highly of Sheridan, saying that he is the perfect person to bring the story to the screen due to his deep understanding of the Old West.
Sheridan has already included Quanah in episodes of Yellowstone and its spin-off series, and he will continue to do so in his next project. This news comes as Yellowstone prepares to enter its second half of Season 5, with plans for at least three more spin-offs in the franchise. Sheridan’s focus seems to be on television series at the moment, with Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King returning for new seasons. The production of Empire of the Summer Moon has not yet begun, and there is no information about the cast.
