Yellowstone: 6666: Cast, Storyline, History, and Everything Else to Know

The status of the Yellowstone spin-off series 6666 remains uncertain as news about its development has been put on hold. Creator Taylor Sheridan confirmed this, even before the actors and writers strikes began. Despite the setbacks, Paramount Network is still working towards the development of the series, giving fans a glimmer of hope for any updates. Not much is known about 6666 at the moment, but as we eagerly anticipate the return of Yellowstone Season 5, let’s take a look at what we do know about the spin-off. Jefferson White, who plays Jimmy on Yellowstone, will also be involved in 6666. In Season 4 of Yellowstone, Jimmy was sent to the Four Sixes ranch to undergo training. He later fell in love with the place and chose to stay there instead of returning to the Yellowstone Ranch. In Season 5’s midseason finale, both White and Kathryn Kelly, who plays Emily (Jimmy’s girlfriend from the Four Sixes), returned to Yellowstone. This could potentially set up the introduction of the new series. 6666 explores the rich history of the legendary 6666 Ranch, which was established during the time when Comanches ruled West Texas. This ranch holds significant historical value and remains operational even after two centuries. Encompassing an entire county, it has become the inspiration for a new scripted series. The show will merge the rules of law and nature in a place where danger lurks around every corner. The 6666 Ranch is renowned for producing world-class horses and livestock and nurturing the birth and rise of talented cowboys.

The title “6666” has an interesting origin. According to legend, Samuel Burnett won the ranch in a card game with four sixes, hence its name. However, the descendants of Burnett deny this story and clarify that the name comes from the fact that Burnett branded his first herd of cattle with “6666.” The proper pronunciation is “Four Sixes.” It’s surprising that it took so long for Sheridan to tap into the storytelling potential of the real-life history behind the 6666 Ranch. He acquired the Four Sixes ranch in May 2021 after the previous owner passed away in 2020, marking the first sale of the ranch in over 150 years. Established by rancher and oilman Samuel Burnett in 1900, the ranch spans three counties and covers over 450,000 acres in Texas. It has been handed down through generations and currently belongs to Burnett’s great-granddaughter, Anne Windfohr Marion. As of now, there is no release date set for 6666, and production on the show is currently on hold. Fans will have to wait patiently for any updates and remain hopeful for the spin-off’s future.
