Last week, Paramount Network aired an expansive Yellowstone marathon, broadcasting all five seasons over five days. It was a perfect introduction for new fans as well as a cozy binge for long-time admirers of Taylor Sheridan’s beloved Western drama.
If you’re looking for a new Sheridan-led series to stream while you wait for Yellowstone to return, Special Ops: Lioness debuts July 23 on Paramount+. Starring Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman, the upcoming spy thriller centers on a CIA operative (Saldaña) who enlists the help of a Marine Raider (De Oliveira) in an undercover operation that hopes to thwart the next 9/11. Nope. Paramount Network is, however, airing the fifth episode of the Yellowstone prequel 1883 at 8:00 p.m. and 9:19 p.m. ET.

When Does Yellowstone Return With New Episodes?
The final six episodes of Season 5 were originally scheduled to debut this summer, but the newest timeline (h/t Deadline) has production resuming in August, with Paramount Network eyeing a November 2023 release date.
While production has yet to begin on the show’s now-final episodes, court documents confirm that Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone contract has officially ended.
Sheridan said that the Costner’s decision to leave the show “truncates the closure of his character” but added that the character’s fate and the ending of the show had been planned out since the early days of Yellowstone.
However, there’s now a question if that death would have to occur off-screen if Costner does not return to set to film scenes given that he no longer has a legal obligation to do so.
There are also other issues hanging over the final run of episodes.
It was previously announced that the latter half of season five would debut in November — but that’s looking increasingly unlikely given that Sheridan said the episodes were yet to be written, let alone shot and edited. In a bit of good news for fans, however, Sheridan suggests he might make more than the previously reported six final episodes.
“If I think it takes 10 episodes to wrap it up, they’ll give me 10,” Sheridan told the outlet. “It’ll be as long as it needs to be.”
