1923: Yellowstone Spinoff Gets Exciting Season 2 Update From Series Star

Production on the Yellowstone prequel series, 1923, is set to resume soon after delays caused by last year’s strikes, according to star Brandon Sklenar. Sklenar, who plays Spencer Dutton in the show, revealed that he is currently preparing for “cowboy camp” and will soon be filming scenes with lead actors Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. The spinoff series debuted in December 2022, four months after filming began, and was renewed for an eight-episode second season.

Set in Montana during Prohibition and the early stages of The Great Depression, 1923 follows the journey of the ranch-owning Dutton family. Meanwhile, the future of the main Yellowstone show is becoming clearer, with Season 5 Part 2 set to air in November. It remains uncertain if Kevin Costner, who plays John Dutton, will appear in the remaining episodes.

Paramount has also greenlit several other Yellowstone spinoffs, including the direct sequel 1943 and a 2024 series starring Matthew McConaughey. Fans can currently stream Season 1 of 1923 on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video.
